Workforce Development

BUILD is an exciting and rewarding mentoring program that will provide participants with paid training in general construction and job readiness to retain long-term employment.  BUILD aims to help those who are homeless or formerly homeless gain construction and workforce skills and assist with job placement followng graduation of the program. 

The Caring Kitchen Project supports the health and recovery of individuals in Mendocino County undergoing cancer treatment by providing organic, vegetable-rich meals prepared with the help of volunteers. Utilizing a commercial kitchen at Mendocino College, Caring Kitchen trains teen and adult volunteers in nutrition, cooking, and job skills.

The Community Kitchen Project is a new project of North Coast Opportunities which aims to serve locally-sourced and nutritious meals to individuals and families facing food insecurity in Lake County. These meals are prepared by volunteers and college interns who learn cooking skills and earn college credits while serving the community. 

Leadership Mendocino believes that strong communities need informed, connected, and activated leaders. Leadership Mendocino seeks to strengthen our communities by developing a diverse group of people who will get involved and make a difference. Considered a "Masters Class in Mendocino County", participants join a prestigious alumni of over 700 members.

Redwood Region RISE is a state-wide initiative designed to support the development of new plans and strategies that center 

1) worker voices, 
2) thriving-wage opportunities for workers, and
3) transition to carbon-neutral industries.
