The Lake County Farm to School program is a three-year grant-funded project aimed at increasing institutional purchasing of local food by building mutually supportive relationships between food producers and school distrcits in Lake County. It offers professional development for school Nutrition Services staff, facilitates the addition of equipment to school kitchens, provides business, marketing, and production planning and resources to farmers, and provides logistical support to both buyers and producers.

For the 2015/16 school year, the Lake County Farm to School program has developed a Harvest of the Month (HOTM) recipe booklet. For families, the Partnership to Improve Community Health project created HOTM recipe cards.

Who We Serve: Lake County Farm to School works with school food service staff in Lake County to link their meals programs with farmers in the region.

Established: Lake County Farm to School began in 2014 with a 3-year CDFA – USDA Specialty Crop grant.

Funding We Bring to Our Community: $397,899 from 2014 – 2017 from the CDFA.
