Lake County Farm to School
The Lake County Farm to School program was a three-year grant-funded project aimed at increasing institutional purchasing of local food by building mutually supportive relationships between food producers and school distrcits in Lake County. It offered professional development for school Nutrition Services staff, facilitated the addition of equipment to school kitchens, provided business, marketing, and production planning and resources to farmers, and provided logistical support to both buyers and producers.
For the 2015/16 school year, the Lake County Farm to School program developed a Harvest of the Month (HOTM) recipe booklet. For families, the Partnership to Improve Community Health project created HOTM recipe cards.
