NCO’s Walk & Bike Mendocino and The City of Ukiah Join to Build a new ‘Linear Park’
The Community is invited to provide feedback

Creating a park like setting along the Great Redwood Trail- Ukiah has been a goal for the staff at Walk & Bike Mendocino, a program of North Coast Opportunities (NCO). Walk and Bike Mendocino is pleased to announce a new contract with the City of Ukiah that will continue the development of the corridor along the Great Redwood Trail- Ukiah as a linear park.

The new recreational opportunity (linear park) will expand and enhance the non-motorized corridor, adding a much-needed community green area to the region.  Walk and Bike Mendocino, as part of their commitment to this contract, will solicit community input and prepare a master plan to guide future projects along this linear park space.

The Great Redwood Trail- Ukiah currently runs from Brush Street at the northern end of Ukiah to Commercial Street at the south. The next construction phase of the trail (Phase 4) will extend the trail south to Norgard St, increasing the length to 3 miles.

Through surveys, online events, and meetings scheduled specifically for this task, Walk & Bike Mendocino staff will provide the public with an opportunity to identify community needs for the linear park. Input from local businesses, law enforcement, tribal partners, and other interested stakeholders will also be sought.

Walk & Bike Mendocino staff will collate and present the results to City of Ukiah staff and elected officials before writing a draft plan with associated maps. Walk & Bike Mendocino staff will then make the plan available for another round of public comment before preparing a final plan.

If you’d like to be kept up to date with this project, contact Sonja Burgal at Walk & Bike Mendocino at sburgal@ncoinc.org to be added to our interested party list.
