Event Notice:
Join us for a free screening of Wilder Than Wild, June 14 6pm, Soper Reese Theatre, Lakeport

We are pleased to announce a joint presentation of the documentary Wilder than Wild: Fire, Forests, and the Future at the Soper Reese Theatre (275 S. Main St) in Lakeport on Friday, June 14 starting at 6 pm.

This one-hour documentary has been screened all over the country including Marin, Sonoma, and Napa counties and highlights the Rim Fire, Lake County and 2017 wine country wildfires.  Following the film, a panel of Lake County experts will help us understand what is being done at different levels of wildfire protection and how you can do your part in making our environment and communities beautiful and safe at the same time.

"We are experiencing now the fires of the future.” - CAL FIRE Chief, Ken Pimlott

Wilder than Wild: Fire, Forests, and the Future reveals how fire suppression and climate change have exposed our forests and wildland-urban landscapes to large, high severity wildfires, while greenhouse gases released from these fires contribute to global warming. Along the way, filmmaker Kevin White shows how the proactive use of prescribed fire can reduce reliance on reactive fire suppression, how a California tribe is renewing their tradition of cultural fire, and introduces us to stakeholder groups working with scientists and resource managers to build consensus on how to restore and manage the lands we love and depend on.

For free admission, please register today through Brown Paper Tickets: https://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/4242315 Light refreshments will be available at the concession counter.

Wilder than Wild: Fire, Forests, and the Future is brought to you by these nonprofits and community-based organizations: Seigler Springs Community Redevelopment Association, Cobb Area Council, North Coast Opportunities, Sierra Club Lake Group, and the South Lake Fire Safe Council.
