Employee Wellness Day

Friday, January 10, 2014

In what will be the first of many, NCO successfully held their first Employee Wellness Day on January 10th, 2014. The day was filled with various health promoting events and opportunities including a healthy snack demonstration by BEANS coordinator Caitlin Morgan, wellness coaching appointments offered by consultant Jen Dalton, massages by Corine Ann Pearce of The Circle of Healing, a 15 minute stress reducing walk, and a healthy homemade lunch consisting of  salad with homemade vinaigrette dressing and both a mexican and asian inspired soups.

Voluntary participation in NCO Employee Wellness Day, which is planned to take place quarterly, allowed employees an opportunity to take a break from their daily tasks and learn helpful tips in improving ones health from the inside out. Health promotion posters decorated the walls of the conference room and resources ranging from recipe books, health quizzes, and tips for stress reduction and exercise were available. While the documentary “Happy”  played on loop throughout the day discussion involving favorite recipes, measures of happiness, and even a competition for steps taken per day (measured by NCO labeled pedometers) began to brew.

Through its programs, NCO strives to improve the health and wellness of the community. But we are also committed to instilling health and wellness within the organization. Influencing healthy lifestyles among employees allows us to practice what we preach and maintain integrity in the programs that we put into place throughout our community.

In future Employee Wellness Days, we hope to continue influencing healthy lifestyle habits and building an increasingly healthy company to serve our community.
